The Inner Game of Injury Recovery

In 2009 my right jaw became dislocated. This dislocation occurred due to a shortened muscle in my neck because of a tear during my delivery in 1973. The muscle tear went untreated and caused the sternocleidomastoid muscle on the left side of my neck contract and shorten. This shortened muscle gradually developed into a condition known as torticollis. Over the next eight years I saw numerous doctors and other specialists while I tried to regain my physical capacity to play the trumpet. With the support of teachers, colleagues, family, friends and medical professionals, I found my way back to health. In this masterclass I will give students strategies to deal with injuries as well as the physical and mental recovery that follows.
